ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Qatar on Monday to undertake a one-day official visit. The Prime Minister is being accompanied by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as part of the high-level delegation traveling to Doha to offer formal condolences.

According to an official statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the primary objective of the visit is for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to meet with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During the engagement, the Prime Minister will convey heartfelt condolences to the Amir, the Qatari royal family, and the people of Qatar following the recent passing of the former Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Reinforcing Bilateral Relations

This visit serves as a testament to the enduring, decades-long fraternal ties and mutual goodwill that characterize the relationship between Pakistan and Qatar. The diplomatic mission underscores the importance Pakistan places on its strategic partnership with the Gulf nation during this time of national mourning for the Qatari leadership.

The Prime Minister’s delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, alongside the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar. The delegation is expected to discuss key areas of cooperation between the two nations while reinforcing the historic bond shared by the two Islamic countries.
