Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Strengthens Security Ties with Türkiye

ISTANBUL (Special Correspondent) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Istanbul on an official visit to Türkiye, where he was greeted with a formal reception upon his arrival at the airport. The visit marks a significant step in ongoing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

During his visit, Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a high-level meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, at the Turkish Ministry of Interior. Both ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the security and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Reviewing Progress on Migration Control

Minister Mohsin Naqvi provided a detailed briefing to the Turkish side regarding the recent successes of Pakistan’s crackdown on the illegal immigration mafia. The Turkish Interior Minister acknowledged these efforts, noting a significant decline in the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye, which has dropped from 70% to 17%.

New Security Agreements and Joint Initiatives

A key outcome of the session was the signing of a formal agreement aimed at bolstering collaboration in the fight against terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and organized crime. This follows the broader framework of regional stability often discussed in strategic security alignments. Both countries agreed to the formation of a ‘Joint Working Group’ to institutionalize cooperation between their respective interior ministries.

Expanding Institutional Collaboration

The ministers further discussed enhancing collaboration in specialized areas, including cyber policing, the operations of the Anti-Narcotics Force, and training programs through the National Police Academy. The two delegations concluded that this partnership would be further strengthened through technical assistance, the exchange of subject-matter experts, and the launch of new joint initiatives to address evolving security challenges.
