Finance Minister Aurangzeb Explores Economic Ties with U.S. EXIM Bank

WASHINGTON, D.C. (special crosspondent) – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a pivotal meeting with U.S. EXIM Bank President and Chairman, Mr. John Jovanovic, in Washington, D.C., to bolster economic and commercial relations between the two nations. This high-level dialogue, similar to recent efforts by the Finance Minister Aurangzeb in his broader economic engagements, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation across key strategic sectors.
During the deliberations, Senator Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of expanding economic partnerships with a specific focus on long-term project financing. The discussions covered potential avenues for increased trade in vital agricultural commodities, specifically cotton and soybeans, as well as necessary engagement within the hydrocarbons sector.
Advancing Strategic Financial Frameworks
The Finance Minister formally welcomed the proposal from the U.S. EXIM Bank to develop a comprehensive framework designed to consolidate priority initiatives. This proposed structure aims to establish a multi-year transaction pipeline that will facilitate U.S. financing, advanced technology transfers, equipment supply, and essential services to Pakistan.
Both representatives agreed to take immediate steps to identify viable near-term transactions and designate specific focal persons from each side. These teams are tasked with finalizing the strategic framework with the intent of having the agreement signed on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session in September 2026.
