Pakistan Showcases World-Famous Mangoes in Singapore
Singapore, August 8: The Pakistan High Commission in Singapore organized a Mango Festival to showcase Pakistan’s world-renowned mangoes as part of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore.
Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, attended the event as Guest of Honour. Government officials, members of the business community, diplomats, media representatives and members of the Pakistani-Singaporean community participated in the festival.
The event featured a specially curated menu highlighting Pakistan’s premium mango varieties, including the renowned Chaunsa and Sensation. Guests had the opportunity to experience the distinctive aroma, smooth texture and naturally sweet taste of Pakistani mangoes.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, said Pakistani mangoes are unmatched in taste. She said the Pakistan High Commission organizes such events to introduce Singaporeans to Pakistan’s cultural diversity and hospitality and to strengthen people-to-people ties, particularly as the two countries celebrate six decades of diplomatic relations.
She said the Mango Festival was aimed at promoting a harmonious blend of Pakistan’s culture, commerce and cuisine while providing an opportunity to showcase the country’s agricultural strengths.
A short video titled “Salam Pakistan” was also screened, highlighting Pakistan’s scenic landscapes, tourist destinations and rich cultural heritage. The event also included a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Pakistan-Singapore diplomatic relations.
The guests appreciated the quality of Pakistani mangoes and praised their distinctive aroma, smooth texture and rich sweetness.
The festival provided an important platform for promoting Pakistan’s agricultural exports in Singapore, introducing premium Pakistani mangoes to the local market and highlighting opportunities for expanding bilateral trade.
The event also underscored the longstanding friendship and partnership between Pakistan and Singapore, built over six decades of diplomatic relations.
