Ishaq Dar, Canadian FM discuss Makkah defence agreement, US-Iran tensions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke by telephone with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Sunday, with the two discussing the regional situation, including the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

Dar briefed Anand on the agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye and the three countries’ resolve to contribute to regional peace, stability and security, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said.

The two ministers also discussed the evolving situation between the United States and Iran and the broader regional security situation.

Dar raised the situation in Occupied East Jerusalem, including a recent ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Jordan.

The two sides agreed to remain closely engaged on issues of mutual interest. Dar also thanked Anand for her recent visit to Pakistan.
