Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Strong Ties With Malaysia

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Friday. This high-level diplomatic engagement underscored the deepening bilateral relations between Islamabad and Kuala Lumpur.
Welcoming the Malaysian Home Minister, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his warm wishes for Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. During the exchange, the Pakistani premier inquired after his Malaysian counterpart’s health, expressing his sincere wishes for a swift recovery. Previously, the Malaysian Interior Minister also engaged in discussions regarding bilateral institutional cooperation during his visit to key landmarks and security departments.
Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to further strengthening the close and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation across all strategic spheres, including security, law enforcement, as well as trade and investment. The regional situation also remained a focal point of the deliberations, with the Prime Minister expressing his appreciation for Malaysia’s consistent support for Pakistan’s regional peace efforts.
Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons
The Malaysian Home Minister relayed the greetings of his Prime Minister to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing Malaysia’s keen desire to foster robust and multifaceted ties with Pakistan. Reflecting the tangible progress of this visit, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. The accord was formally signed by the Home Minister of Malaysia and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials from the government.
