Pakistan ready to welcome UAE investment in energy, AI, agriculture: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Monday said Pakistan stood ready to welcome investment of the United Arab Emirates in sectors of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, fintech, agriculture and minerals.

While addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the 54th National Day of the United Arab Emirates here, he said, “Economic partnership of Pakistan and UAE is a shining example. UAE is lending critical support to Pakistan’s stabilizing economy.”

He said, “On this joyous occasion I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates. My heartiest felicitations to my dear brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi as well as to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats and people from different walks of life attended the event.

The Prime Minister said his earliest memories of the UAE were of the land that believed in possibilities long before these became realities.

“Witnessing the UAE’s remarkable journey as it attains new heights of progress fills all of us with profound admiration for not only the President of UAE but his great late father Sheikh Zayed who was the real architect of the great brotherhood, fraternity and friendship between Pakistan and UAE,” he noted.

He said, “Today we honour the enduring spirit of brotherhood that binds our two nations. Pakistan takes great pride in its strategic partnership with UAE which continues to deepen across every domain of life.”

He said at the heart of their enduring relationship were the people, the 1.8 million Pakistanis who consider the UAE as their second home and contributed tirelessly to its economic progress across diverse sectors.

“Pakistanis are making great contributions in nation building efforts in UAE,” he added. He said millions of people admire UAE’s progress under its dynamic leadership.

He expressed the wish to achieve deeper cooperation, greater prosperity and enduring peace for Pakistan, UAE and the wider region.

In his remarks, the UAE’s ambassador to Pakistan Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi said UAE was committed to strengthen ties with Pakistan in diverse fields including economy, energy and artificial intelligence.

He said both countries shared common values and a vision for regional peace and development.

Prime Minister along with the Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and ambassador of UAE also cut a cake to celebrate the occasion.
