NEW YORK, Sept 24: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.

The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh ties.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Bangladesh on assuming the presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly and expressed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s efforts to advance the objectives of the United Nations.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further deepen mutually beneficial relations with Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reciprocated the sentiment, expressing satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and highlighting his government’s keen desire to further enhance ties with Pakistan.

The two prime ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people contacts.

They also exchanged views on regional and global developments and emphasized the importance of continued coordination at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations.
