Pakistan Army Shoots Down Four Afghan Drones Near Balochistan Border

RAWALPINDI (special crosspondent) – Pakistan’s security forces successfully intercepted and destroyed four drones launched from Afghanistan into Balochistan, the military’s media wing announced on Wednesday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) accused the Afghan Taliban of backing terrorist groups operating against Pakistan.

According to the ISPR, the four rudimentary drones crossed the border on June 30, which it described as part of the Afghan Taliban regime’s continued patronage and support of terrorist outfits operating from Afghan territory. The military stated that Pakistan’s air defence system detected the hostile aerial platforms immediately after they entered the country’s airspace.

Security forces, demonstrating a high level of operational readiness, neutralised all four drones using advanced countermeasures before they could cause any damage. The ISPR said the swift response effectively foiled what it termed a “malicious attempt” by the Afghan Taliban.

The military further alleged that such actions are intended to divert the attention of the Afghan public from the challenges they face under Taliban rule. It urged the Afghan Taliban to abandon support for terrorism and adopt the principles of peaceful coexistence instead of engaging in what it called “antics and hollow rhetoric.”

Warning against further provocations, ISPR stated that any continued hostile actions by the Afghan Taliban would receive a “befitting response” and come at a heavy cost. The statement comes amid ongoing border tensions and concerns over cross-border terrorism, with Pakistan frequently raising these issues with the Afghan government. The Pakistani military has recently reiterated its commitment to national defence, emphasizing that its armed forces remain fully vigilant and capable of protecting every inch of the country’s territory. Any cross-border aggression or threats to Pakistan’s sovereignty, it added, would continue to be met with “swift, decisive and overwhelming” action under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.
