ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – At the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on July 20. According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Sunday, this will be Anita Anand’s first visit to Pakistan since assuming office as Canada’s foreign minister.

Bilateral Discussions and Cooperation

During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Canadian counterpart will hold bilateral talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Canada relations. The discussions are set to focus on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides will also exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and explore ways to further strengthen bilateral engagement.

Engagement with Senior Leadership

In addition to her meeting with Ishaq Dar, the Canadian foreign minister is scheduled to meet Pakistan’s senior leadership during her stay. The Foreign Office noted that Pakistan and Canada enjoy cordial bilateral relations, which are underpinned by strong people-to-people ties and a vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Canada. This visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further expand cooperation across multiple sectors, reinforcing the diplomatic bonds established by recent high-level interactions, such as those highlighted in previous diplomatic assessments regarding regional stability and institutional collaboration.
