ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, reached a consensus on Saturday to intensify bilateral cooperation across several critical sectors, including trade, investment, transport, and regional connectivity. The discussions also emphasized enhancing energy partnerships, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and aligning positions at multilateral forums.

The high-level meeting took place on the sidelines of the Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Attends SCO Meeting in Kyrgyzstan, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office. During the deliberations, both leaders reviewed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, which has gained significant momentum following the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan earlier this year.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The ministers reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to implementing the comprehensive understandings reached between the two nations, which notably include the 37 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the presidential visit. This diplomatic engagement builds upon the broader regional cooperation initiatives, similar to recent high-level dialogues such as when Ishaq Dar and Abbas Araghchi Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Stability, demonstrating Pakistan’s proactive stance in regional diplomacy.

Regional Peace and Future Invitations

Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev formally expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing contributions to advancing regional peace and diplomatic stability. The two counterparts also conducted an extensive exchange of views regarding pressing regional and global developments, reiterating their shared dedication to maintaining peace, stability, and mutual economic prosperity. As a gesture of strengthening these growing ties, the Kazakh foreign minister extended an official invitation to the Deputy Prime Minister to visit Kazakhstan. Senator Ishaq Dar graciously accepted the invitation, with both sides agreeing to finalize the visit at a mutually convenient time.
