We Are Ready to Attack Iran, US Military Officials Say

US aircraft carrier USS George Washington receives bunker-buster bombs and long-range missiles; military activity intensifies in the Arabian Sea as the Trump administration considers options for possible new strikes against Iran.

Washington: Tensions between the United States and Iran appear to be entering another dangerous phase, as the US aircraft carrier USS George Washington receives heavy weapons, long-range missiles and bunker-buster bombs designed to destroy hardened underground facilities. Senior US Navy officials have indicated that American forces are prepared for potential new military operations.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, its journalists visited the USS George Washington, deployed in the Arabian Sea, where they observed military aircraft taking off and landing, along with the transfer of weapons and military equipment.

The report says the carrier is receiving weapons capable of striking heavily fortified underground military facilities and other strategic targets.

US Navy Commander Brian Garcia said additional weapons and equipment were being brought aboard in preparation for possible future missions. He indicated that American naval forces were already prepared to undertake new operational assignments.

Captain Nicholas De Leo, commanding officer of the USS George Washington, said US forces were closely monitoring developments in the region and were prepared to respond defensively or conduct pre-emptive operations if required.

Meanwhile, Washington is strengthening its military presence in the Middle East. The deployment of additional aircraft carriers, missile-equipped warships and Marine forces is expanding America’s operational capabilities in the region.

Reports indicate that President Donald Trump is considering various military options against Iran, including potential strikes on nuclear facilities, military infrastructure and other strategic targets. However, US officials have not announced any final decision to launch a new attack.

Meanwhile, US intelligence agencies have warned of potential Iranian retaliation. Washington is also taking additional security measures concerning American diplomatic personnel in the region, including Saudi Arabia.

Analysts suggest that the possibility of renewed US military action against Iran after the November 3, 2026, midterm elections cannot be ruled out. However, no confirmed timeline for such an operation has been announced.

A renewed large-scale US attack on Iran could have consequences far beyond the two countries. The Strait of Hormuz, Gulf security, international oil supplies and the global economy could all face serious disruption.
