RAWALPINDI (special crosspondent) – Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Ghana, called on General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, to discuss expanding defence cooperation.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out Tri-Services contingent, reflecting the strong and growing defence relations between Pakistan and Ghana.

Expanding Bilateral Defence Cooperation

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, regional security developments, and avenues for enhanced bilateral defence cooperation. The two military leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening military-to-military relations and expanding collaboration in key areas, including joint training initiatives, counter-terrorism cooperation, and defence production.

General Syed Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional peace, security, and professional military cooperation with friendly nations. The discussions also focused on enhancing institutional linkages between the armed forces of both countries.

Lieutenant General William Agyapong appreciated the professionalism, operational capabilities, and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional stability and security.

Meetings with Naval and Air Force Leadership

Separately, Ghana’s National Security Coordinator, Abdul Razak Osman, called on Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

The meetings focused on regional security dynamics, defence cooperation, and prospects for enhanced collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Ghana. Lieutenant General William Agyapong was also present during these engagements.

The high-level interactions underscore the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Ghana and reflect the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening security cooperation, professional exchanges, and military collaboration.
