ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – At the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, will undertake a State Visit to Pakistan on 23 June 2026. Dr Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and other high-ranking officials. During the visit, President Pezeshkian will meet the President of Pakistan and hold talks with the Prime Minister. The Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister will call on the Iranian President. This marks Dr Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan in his capacity as President of Iran.

Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Issues on Agenda

During the visit, the two sides will review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore new avenues to further deepen cooperation across diverse sectors, including trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity. The visit will also provide an important opportunity to discuss ongoing diplomatic engagements following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest. The forthcoming visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to further deepen their historic and cultural ties and underscores their common aspiration for peace, stability, and sustainable progress in the region. This state visit underscores the robust diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Iran, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration, building on previous high-level discussions such as the recent meeting of ministers from Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye in Cairo and high-level talks on the implementation of the Islamabad Accord. The focus on regional connectivity and stability aligns with Pakistan’s broader diplomatic initiatives, including its role in mediating technical talks between the US and Iran and its engagement with other regional powers.
