Pak Army Commemorates 99th Anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army at GHQ

*RAWALPINDI (Special Correspondent):* The 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of the People’s Republic of China was commemorated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, reaffirming the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, His Excellency Jiang Zaidong, attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. The event was also attended by Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior military officers representing Pakistan’s Army, Navy and Air Force.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary. He paid tribute to the Chinese military’s significant contributions to China’s national defence, development, and international peace and security.

Speaking on the occasion, the Field Marshal described Pakistan-China relations as unique, time-tested and resilient, noting that the bilateral friendship has remained steadfast despite evolving regional and global challenges. He emphasized that the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA are trusted partners, united by mutual confidence, unwavering support and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability and the protection of common strategic interests.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Field Marshal for hosting the commemorative event and acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces’ sacrifices and achievements in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and reiterated Beijing’s commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
