ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone discussion with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening, focusing on the recently signed historic peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

In a warm and cordial conversation, the Prime Minister congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the signing of the landmark Islamabad Peace Deal. He conveyed his deep appreciation for the Crown Prince’s consistent and steadfast support for Pakistan’s peace initiatives, paying tribute to his sagacious leadership of the Kingdom throughout the crisis.

Prime Minister Sharif noted that the strong backing from Saudi Arabia, alongside other Gulf states, was instrumental in achieving the peace deal between Iran and the U.S. in a matter of months.

For his part, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated the Prime Minister and praised the untiring efforts of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which were pivotal in the successful signing of the accord, a significant step toward regional stability.

Both leaders concurred on the critical importance of ensuring the next phase of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. progresses smoothly. They emphasized that outstanding issues must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and stressed the need for vigilance against any attempts to derail the negotiation process.

Expressing satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister stated that both countries were prepared to finalise and sign a comprehensive economic package under the Crown Prince’s patronage. He also reiterated his invitation for His Royal Highness to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

Prime Minister Sharif also took the opportunity to convey his respectful regards and well wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The two leaders concluded their call by agreeing to maintain close coordination in the coming days.
