ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad on 13 July 2026. High-level officials present at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Members of the National Assembly Ms. Farah Naz Akbar and Ms. Zeb Jaffar, and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch. The Secretary General was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, H.E. Nawaf Saeed Al Malky.

Prime Minister Welcomes MWL Secretary General

The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to Dr. Al-Issa, expressing gratitude for his participation in the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which concluded in Islamabad on 13 July. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Muslim World League for its efforts in promoting a moderate image of Islam, fostering unity among the Ummah, and advancing global interfaith harmony. He specifically highlighted the significance of the MWL’s advocacy in addressing contemporary challenges, including the regional situation involving Iran and Gulf states, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the global fight against Islamophobia.

Deepening Cooperation and Regional Peace

During the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled Dr. Al-Issa’s past contributions, including hosting the International Summit on Girls’ Education in Islamabad, and expressed satisfaction regarding ongoing collaboration in education and counter-extremism. The Prime Minister conveyed his high regards to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and extended warm wishes to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In response, Dr. Al-Issa thanked the government for its hospitality and reaffirmed the League’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan. He specifically acknowledged the diplomatic efforts led by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, citing their pivotal roles in the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The two leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on shared humanitarian and religious initiatives to ensure the timely completion of joint projects.
