ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, on Saturday issued a stern warning against the dissemination of baseless rumours and misinformation, stating that such actions are aimed at creating instability and confusion in the country through fabricated narratives.

During an interaction with media channels, Mr. Sanaullah categorically rejected speculation regarding any change in the prime minister’s office, describing the reports as entirely baseless and misleading. He affirmed that any rumours concerning the replacement of the prime minister were completely incorrect.

Effective Governance

Mr. Sanaullah asserted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is effectively steering the country in the right direction and has significantly enhanced Pakistan’s image on the global stage. “Pakistan has gained recognition and respect across the world,” he remarked. He emphasised that the prime minister’s sincerity, hard work, and steadfast commitment to the nation have earned him admiration from people across all sectors of society. The adviser added that the premier’s leadership and dedication to addressing Pakistan’s challenges are widely appreciated.

Dialogue and Regional Cooperation

Responding to a question about political engagement, Mr. Sanaullah noted that the government has consistently remained open to dialogue with the opposition. He recalled that even when his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was in opposition and its leaders were facing legal cases, they continued to believe in and participate in the democratic process.

Commenting on regional developments, he expressed optimism that the lifting of sanctions on Iran would have a positive impact on Pakistan’s economy. This, he suggested, could open new avenues for trade and economic cooperation, reflecting sentiments that PM Sharif foresees a new era of prosperity with Iran. Such diplomatic and economic initiatives are part of a broader effort to secure regional stability, a topic also central to recent high-level discussions between Pakistan and Iran’s foreign ministers.

Gilgit-Baltistan Political Landscape

Regarding the political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Sanaullah stated that the PML-N would embrace its role as a constructive opposition party in the region. He acknowledged that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had secured the highest number of seats and is currently engaged in consultations with other parties to form a coalition government.
