WASHINGTON: The White House has launched a new digital video channel on YouTube called “Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” offering 24-hour programming featuring US President Donald Trump, his administration’s activities, major speeches, announcements and other video content.

According to the White House, the new platform is intended to bring together key videos, major presidential addresses and notable moments involving the administration in one place. The content will be updated continuously.

“Trump TV” went live at 7 p.m. US time on September 21. Its initial programming included previously recorded speeches by President Trump, footage from major events and other videos highlighting his administration.

The launch comes amid ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and several US media organizations over press access and coverage of the White House.

In recent days, CNN, Politico and MS NOW journalists have faced restrictions on access to the White House. The three media organizations subsequently filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News and CNN, which are part of the White House television press pool, suspended their joint coverage amid the dispute. The White House has now begun operating its own 24-hour digital video feed.

The White House has presented “Trump TV” as a centralized digital platform for distributing official video content from the administration. US media outlets have also viewed the move in the broader context of the ongoing tensions between the White House and traditional news organizations.
