Pakistan PM Praises Iranian Restraint, Supports US-Iran Dialogue

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Iranian leadership for their measured and dignified approach amidst the ongoing crisis, expressing optimism about the success of current diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict between the United States and Iran. Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast commitment to fostering dialogue, de-escalation, and enduring peace within the region.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of high-level discussions in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, the prime minister underscored Pakistan’s pivotal role, in conjunction with Qatar, in facilitating the diplomatic process. This engagement is designed to advance constructive dialogue between Washington and Tehran and to mitigate regional tensions. Prime Minister Shehbaz noted that the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf, have exhibited a sincere dedication to de-escalation and the pursuit of peace. “They have handled this entire crisis with a sense of dignity and have shown a genuine desire to de-escalate tensions,” the prime minister stated, asserting his belief that the Iranian leadership remains committed to promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz further remarked that the current diplomatic engagement represents a significant opportunity to enhance stability and forge new pathways for cooperation among regional and international parties. He reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to facilitating dialogue and supporting the peaceful settlement of all disputes. This initiative builds upon Pakistan’s consistent efforts in mediating international discussions, similar to its role in US-Iran technical talks in Switzerland under the Islamabad Accord, highlighting the nation’s commitment to global peace and stability.
