Mohsin Naqvi Meets Qatari Counterpart to Strengthen Bilateral Security Cooperation

DOHA (special crosspondent) – Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a high-level meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, during his official visit to Doha. The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation, enhancing institutional collaboration, and reviewing the prevailing regional security landscape.

Expanding Bilateral Security Ties

During the session, the ministers reached a consensus to expand the existing security partnership between Pakistan and Qatar, pledging to enhance coordination between their respective interior ministries. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to deepening collaboration in key areas, particularly concerning internal security and law enforcement protocols. These discussions mirror the strategic engagements currently driving regional diplomacy, similar to recent high-level dialogues such as when Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to Visit Pakistan for Strategic Bilateral Talks to foster deeper ties in the Middle East.

Regional Stability and Counterterrorism

The dialogue also addressed critical regional developments, with both parties emphasizing the necessity of peace and regional stability. They agreed to reinforce their partnership in counterterrorism, professional training, and various security-related fields to effectively mitigate common challenges. Mohsin Naqvi stressed that Pakistan remains fully committed to working with Qatar to bolster security infrastructure, citing the longstanding, brotherly relations between the two nations as the cornerstone for future collaboration. The importance of these partnerships is vital as seen in other ongoing diplomatic efforts, such as when Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong Meets Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to coordinate on shared regional objectives.

Condolences for the Late Emir

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the formal expression of condolences by Minister Mohsin Naqvi regarding the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Minister Naqvi paid tribute to the late leader, highlighting his significant contributions to the modernization and prosperity of Qatar. He noted that the visionary leadership of the former Emir would continue to serve as a lasting legacy for the nation. In response, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani expressed his gratitude for the gesture, reiterating that Qatar highly values its deep-rooted relationship with Pakistan. The meeting concluded with both sides renewing their commitment to expanding cooperation, ensuring that the bilateral partnership continues to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
