ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, co-chaired extensive delegation-level talks on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the two leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, seeking to further strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, energy, labour, agriculture, information technology, health, mining and minerals, defence, and the broader economic partnership, building upon the strategic dialogue framework.

Institutionalizing Bilateral Cooperation

During the proceedings, both sides reached a consensus to further institutionalise bilateral cooperation through enhanced linkages and more frequent high-level exchanges. A formal press release issued by the Foreign Office noted that this commitment is aimed at creating a robust framework for sustained diplomatic and economic engagement.

Multilateral Coordination and Regional Stability

The two delegations reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining close coordination at various multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest. A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to exchanging views on pressing regional and international developments, most notably the escalating situation in the Middle East and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. In this regard, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive and persistent role in promoting long-term regional peace and stability, a sentiment that reflects the broader context of geopolitical complexities currently facing the region.

Strengthening Historic Ties

The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister conveyed his gratitude to the Government and the people of Pakistan for the warm welcome and generous hospitality afforded to his delegation. He specifically acknowledged Pakistan’s steadfast support for Kuwait during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, characterizing it as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s profound commitment to its longstanding brotherly relations with Kuwait. He underscored Islamabad’s strategic desire to further expand the mutually beneficial partnership across all defined sectors, ensuring that the bilateral relationship remains a pillar of growth in the wider region, similar to ongoing efforts by Central Asian states to utilize Pakistan as a gateway for regional trade.
