ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani hosted a high-level Qatari delegation, led by H.E. Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani, a prominent businessman and senior member of the Qatari Royal Family, to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation. The Chairman warmly welcomed the visiting dignitaries, emphasizing that the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar are deeply rooted in a shared history, cultural heritage, and faith, alongside centuries of mutually beneficial economic engagement.

Highlighting the critical importance of regional economic stability, the Chairman stressed the necessity to further deepen bilateral ties through increased trade, robust investment, and socio-political cooperation. He noted that such partnerships remain essential as countries navigate shifting regional security and economic cooperation frameworks.

Parliamentary Diplomacy and Global Peace

During the briefing, Chairman Senate Gilani introduced his initiative for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC). The event, centered on the theme of “Peace, Security and Development,” is designed to address challenges in the contemporary global environment. The Chairman expressed his appreciation for the participation of the Honourable Speaker of Qatar in the upcoming conference in Islamabad, noting that such forums are vital for fostering international dialogue.

Furthermore, Chairman Gilani underscored Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting global and regional stability. He specifically praised the significance of the Makkah Accord, characterizing it as a milestone for promoting unity and security among Muslim nations.

Investment Opportunities and Economic Future

Addressing the business aspect of the meeting, the Chairman lauded H.E. Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani’s entrepreneurial vision. He extended a formal invitation to Qatari investors to explore diverse opportunities within Pakistan, specifically highlighting potential in the tourism, agriculture, and energy sectors.

In response, H.E. Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening ties. The Qatari side expressed a keen interest in expanding their footprint in the Pakistani market, while Sheikh Nayef also placed emphasis on the importance of continued support and facilitation for the large Pakistani diaspora residing in Qatar.
