RAWALPINDI: Eight drones allegedly entering Pakistan from Afghanistan were shot down by the Pakistan Army’s active air defence system, security sources said.

According to the sources, four drones were brought down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border, while another four were shot down in mountainous border areas adjoining Kohat.

The security sources said the Pakistan Armed Forces and Pakistan Air Force foiled an alleged attempt to target public places, neutralising the potential threat posed by the drone incursions.

The sources further claimed that the alleged drone incursions were another indication of the Afghan Taliban’s alleged support and patronage of terrorist elements.

According to the security sources, Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully alert to defend the country’s airspace and borders and are prepared to respond to any potential threat.
