LCCI President Urges Overseas Pakistani Investors to Expand Export Sectors

LAHORE (special crosspondent) – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol has formally called upon Pakistani entrepreneurs and businessmen based abroad to play a more proactive role in the nation’s economic development. He urged the diaspora to prioritize investment in emerging sectors, a move intended to significantly expand Pakistan’s export capacity and domestic manufacturing base.
Strategic Business Visit to Germany
Mr. Saigol made these remarks while leading a 25-member LCCI business delegation during a visit to ISPAK Plastic in Hagen, Germany. The delegation was formally received by Mazhar Iqbal Deona and the company’s senior management. The high-level delegation included Acting Consul General Fahad ur Rehman, Trade & Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Consulate General Frankfurt Amna Naeem, as well as LCCI Executive Committee Members Asif Khan and Shouban Akhtar.

Government Reforms and Investment Potential
During the briefing, the LCCI President underscored the growing opportunities within Pakistan, detailing the extensive reforms undertaken by the government to enhance the ease of doing business. These initiatives are designed to better facilitate international investors and foster a conducive environment for both local and foreign capital injection. His address echoes the broader national push for economic stability, similar to sentiments expressed regarding Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh’s recent call for expanded US investment in various Pakistani sectors.
Capitalizing on Global Expertise

Faheem ur Rehman Saigol stated that overseas Pakistani business leaders possess valuable capital, cutting-edge technology, and vital access to international markets. He argued that leveraging this business expertise could contribute significantly to Pakistan’s industrial expansion. He urged top-tier entrepreneurs abroad to view Pakistan as a premier investment destination and to establish or scale their operations within the country.
Priority Sectors for Economic Growth
The LCCI President explicitly highlighted several high-potential sectors for immediate investment: Electric Vehicles, Information Technology, Renewable Energy, Textiles and Value Addition, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture and Food Processing, and the Mining & Minerals industry. He noted that investment in these areas would facilitate essential technology transfers, generate sustainable employment, and bolster overall export growth.

Long-term Economic Integration
Mr. Saigol emphasized that stronger investment flows into these target sectors would not only build new industrial capacity but would also enable Pakistan to pivot toward value-added exports. Such a transition is expected to improve productivity and integrate domestic enterprises into global supply chains. The visit also featured high-level discussions on strengthening bilateral trade and investment prospects, with a focus on enhancing industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Germany.
Commitment to Future Cooperation
Mazhar Iqbal Deona pledged full support via the European Business Chamber to promote foreign direct investment in Pakistan and enhance the country’s manufacturing capabilities. He expressed a deep commitment to strengthening cooperation between the business communities of Pakistan and Europe, noting that such partnerships are vital for growth. The delegation concluded that increased engagement from the diaspora could transform current economic opportunities into concrete, high-impact investment projects.
