Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh Urges Increased US Investment in Pakistani Sectors

CHICAGO (special crosspondent) – Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh engaged key business leaders across Chicagoland to promote bilateral trade, commercial partnerships, and increased U.S. investment in Pakistan, highlighting the high-potential mineral and surgical instrument sectors. The Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago accompanied the Ambassador during these high-level engagements.
Strengthening Bilateral Business Linkages
During a breakfast meeting hosted by the Pak American Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce (PACC), Ambassador Sheikh urged attendees to strengthen business-to-business (B2B) linkages and explore expanding ventures in Pakistan. PACC President Naveed Anwar briefed the Ambassador on his recent visit to Pakistan as part of a U.S. business delegation, expressing confidence in the country’s economic landscape. Such diplomatic efforts align with ongoing national initiatives, similar to recent trade-focused endeavors such as the Pakistan, New Zealand Hold Political and Joint Trade Committee Meetings, which aim to broaden the horizon for national economic stakeholders.
Value-Added Investments in Mineral Resources
In a separate bilateral meeting, Nadeem Ahmad, President of Miracle Salt Works Collective Inc. (MSCI), briefed Ambassador Sheikh on MSCI’s ongoing $200 million joint venture with the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC). The project focuses on the local crushing, packaging, and global export of high-quality Pakistani pink rock salt. Ambassador Sheikh praised the initiative as a benchmark for value-added — prospectively multi-billion dollar — foreign direct investment in Pakistan’s rich mineral sector.
Advancing the Surgical Instrument Industry
Continuing the outreach, Ambassador Sheikh visited Phoenix Instruments in Naperville, a major finishing, packaging, and distribution facility for Pakistani-manufactured surgical instruments serving the U.S. healthcare market. Following a facility tour, company executives discussed strategies for scaling operations. The Ambassador called for heightened U.S. investment in advanced manufacturing technologies, specialized workforce training, and skill development to help transition Pakistan’s surgical manufacturing into higher-value, high-tech segments. These growth-oriented strategies reflect broader government priorities to stabilize and enhance export sectors, much like the recent measures reported where Rs10 Billion Sanctioned to Support Export Sectors: Jam Kamal Khan to ensure long-term industrial sustainability.
Ambassador Sheikh reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering sustainable, investment-led economic partnerships with the United States that drive technology transfer, value addition, and mutual commercial growth, further building on the DPM/FM Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s support for ASEAN’s peace, prosperity efforts as part of the country’s broader commitment to global economic cooperation.
