ANKARA (special crosspondent) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Ankara marked the 79th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan with a dignified and patriotic flag-hoisting ceremony held at the embassy premises today at 10:00 AM. The commemorative event brought together senior embassy officials, members of the diplomatic community, and representatives of the Pakistani diaspora residing in Türkiye to honor the nation’s historic milestone.

Commencement of the Ceremonial Proceedings

The proceedings commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, setting a solemn tone for the celebration. This was followed by the national anthem of Pakistan as the national flag was raised, symbolizing the nation’s sovereignty and enduring spirit. Similar to other missions globally, such as the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, the event served to reflect on the sacrifices made by the founding fathers.

Messages from National Leadership

During the ceremony, Mr. Shaiq Ahmed Bhutto, Deputy Head of Mission, read out the official message from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The address emphasized the historic struggle for freedom, national achievements, and the critical importance of unity in overcoming contemporary challenges. Following this, Counsellor Mr. Ammar Amin presented the message of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, which underscored the country’s resilience, its ongoing commitment to socioeconomic development, and a steadfast resolve to achieve long-term progress and national stability.

In his keynote address, H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Ambassador of Pakistan to Türkiye, elaborated on the profound significance of August 14 for the Pakistani nation. He paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the founding leaders, reaffirming Pakistan’s adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, and self-determination. Ambassador Junaid further highlighted the enduring and fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Türkiye. He expressed confidence that the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations would continue to flourish in the years ahead, building upon a shared history and mutual diplomatic interests.
