President Zardari greets Sudan on Independence Day, reaffirms support for sovereignty, stability

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm felicitations to Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Mr Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the people of Sudan on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability.

In his message, the president conveyed greetings on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, and underscored the long-standing cordial relations between Pakistan and Sudan, rooted in shared values, a common Islamic heritage and mutual respect. He said bilateral ties were marked by trust, cooperation and consistent support for each other at international forums.

President Zardari said Pakistan attached high importance to Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stood for peace and stability in Sudan at a challenging time. He expressed confidence that dialogue and cooperation would contribute positively to regional peace and shared prosperity.

Highlighting fraternal ties between the two countries, the president said Pakistan remained keen to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political engagement, economic collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, for the benefit of both nations.

President Zardari conveyed his sincere wishes for continued peace, stability and prosperity for the people of Sudan, and wished Mr Abdel Fattah al-Burhan good health and success in leading his country towards progress and development.
