ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has departed for Bürgenstock, Switzerland, to participate in high-level talks focused on the implementation of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. This significant engagement includes high-level delegations from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar, and the United States. These deliberations represent the first formal interaction since the signing of the Islamabad MoU on June 17, 2026. Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to supporting and advancing the implementation of the understandings reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, building on its previous efforts. The nation’s consistent role in facilitating dialogue highlights its dedication to promoting peace and stability. The Prime Minister is also anticipated to hold bilateral meetings with the participating delegations from Iran, Qatar, Switzerland, and the US on the sidelines of the main talks.
