ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday formally approved the conferment of the Nishan-i-Khidmat award upon Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL). This prestigious recognition underscores the significant diplomatic ties Pakistan maintains within the broader Islamic world, similar to efforts seen when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discusses regional peace with Qatari Amir to foster international cooperation.

Recognition of Global Services

The President’s decision to bestow this honor follows an assessment of Dr. Al-Issa’s extensive contributions to the global Islamic community. The award recognizes his unwavering dedication to fostering interfaith harmony, promoting moderation as a core value of Islamic discourse, and strengthening the bonds of cooperation across the Muslim Ummah. His commitment to peace remains a critical pillar of modern diplomacy, echoing the broader initiatives of the current administration, such as when the Saudi Ambassador meets Pakistan Deputy PM to discuss regional peace.

Honorary Academic Recognition

In addition to the state award, President Zardari has approved the conferment of an honorary doctorate in Islamic Studies and International Relations upon Dr. Al-Issa. This degree is to be awarded by the National University of Modern Languages (NUML). The recognition highlights the intersection of academic pursuit and diplomatic leadership, a synergy encouraged by the government as it continues to advance various national sectors, much like the administration’s recent focus when Ahsan Iqbal engages NASA officials to advance Pakistan’s space vision.
